Pipins Beck is a residential development for up to 330 dwellings, including vehicular access, supporting infrastructure and areas of open space. Project Ecology was appointed by Quince Homes Ltd to provide ecological consultancy at the later stages of the project, ensuring that environmental requirements were met while supporting a viable and deliverable scheme. Our role focused on dischrgaing the ecological conditions attched to the decision notice.
We delivered targeted mitigation strategies for amphibians, bats and nesting birds, ensuring compliance with relevant wildlife legislation and planning conditions. Amphibian mitigation measures were designed and implemented to protect species on site while maintaining programme certainty for the client. In parallel, appropriate mitigation for bats and nesting birds was developed and integrated into the scheme, aligning ecological requirements with the overall design and delivery strategy.
We supported the preparation and discharge of statutory BNG requirements, including the Biodiversity Gain Plan (BGP) and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan (HMMP). By maximising on-site habitat creation and enhancement, including habitats within habitat, hedgerow and watercourse unit categories, we were able to satisfy the pre-statutory BNG requirements.
The result is a well-considered residential development that balances ecological protection with commercial delivery. Through clear reporting, practical mitigation and early integration of biodiversity measures, the project progressed efficiently through planning while delivering measurable environmental improvements.
